Osseous raw materials were very important for prehistoric communities that inhabited Pločnik. During the Late Neolithic Vinča culture, bones, antler and rarely teeth were used for a variety of objects, predominantly everyday tools, while imported mollusc shells, bones and antler were used for decorative and non-utilitarian items. Manufacturing techniques used were those known in other Vinča culture communities, and the typological repertoire has some of the widespread Vinča culture traits, but with few local traits. Objects were mainly carefully produced, with a limited number of ad hoc tools; sometimes traces of repair may be noted, but the raw materials were abundant and were not economised. Manufacturing debris shows that osseous artefacts were produced within the settlement. However, it was not possible to determine the location of a possible workshop or working area, since the majority of artefacts was discovered within contexts containing deposited material. Differences between e...arlier and later phases were not noted.
The Bubanj culture horizon yielded a limited amount of tools, but they share the same techno-typological traits with other Early Eneolithic bone industries in the region.
