Abstract
A group of objects discovered close to the village of Medoševac near Niš, represent the southernmost group find of bronze jewelry belonging to the Tumulus culture on the territory of modern Serbia. The manner of how the material reached the National Museum in Niš as well as its geographic isolation from the heartland in which this culture developed (southern Pannonia and the Drina and Lim river valleys), caught the attention of Rastko Vasić. It is obvious that the material comes from a skeletal burial, since the bronze items are in extraordinary condition and, in contrast to cremation, apparently haven’t been exposed to flames and high temperatures. New absolute dates extracted from Tumulus culture necropolises in the western and northern Republic of Serbia, confirm that the find from Medoševac can be dated to the 14th century BC at the latest.
