The Study of Pottery Technology in Serbia: First Experiences
Апстракт
The article analyzes the current state of pottery research in Serbia. The material
studied is chiefly from the Middle Ages, and from the experiences we have so far
certain recommendations for future interdisciplinary study of pottery technology can be
drawn. On the basis of already conducted petrographic and physical-chemical analyses
we point to a combination of methods which should provide optimal results. It is stated
that in Serbia there are both good potential for such study and specific equipment for archaeometric
analyses of pottery. However, there is still a need to train specialists, mostly
from the field of archaeology, competent to engage in all aspects of the study of pottery.
The aim should also be to build interdisciplinary teams for the research of pottery technology,
a subject of growing importance precisely because of the application of different
analytical methods.
